Kate Nash will open the Glastonbury Festival this year.

The star will be the first act on the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 27.

The festival will take place between June 27-29 this year, and will be being headlined by Kings Of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve.

The singer's announcement follows Kate Nash victory in the Best British Female Solo Artist award category at last night’s Brits (February 20). She is also nominated in two categories at the Shockwaves NME Awards, which take place next week (February 28).

Kate Nash is then set to hit the road on the US NME Awards Tour which kicks off in April.

Nash has also announced that she will release her next single, 'Merry Happy', on March 24.

The record will be available on two seven-inch vinyl single formats and CD. Just 1,000 copies of each format will go on sale.

Nash is on tour in the UK throughout February and March, and further festival dates will be announced later in the year.
