Kate Nash has opened up about working with Willow Smith.

In an interview in this week's NME, the singer describes Smith as "such a cool punk" after the pair hooked up to work on material in LA. "Willow's management got in touch asking if I was around and be interested in meeting her," she said. "They were like, 'Do you want to come to the house? It was so cool!'"

Smith had been collaborating with Rihanna and Beyonce's songwriters, but when she decided to write her own material, she got in touch with Nash. "We wrote a song together for her record – it's so good and she is really talented. I think she could be quite revolutionary doing her own material and breaking boundaries. She's totally in control of what she wants to do".

The Brit Award winning artist recently went to Los Angeles to write and record her as-yet-untitled third album, which will be released later this year. She released her debut 'Made Of Bricks' in 2007, and its follow-up, 'My Best Friend Is You', in 2010.

Last month, Nash unveiled the first track to be taken from the album, 'Underestimate The Girl'. The track sparked controversy as it was a dramatic change in direction of the singer. Responding to her critics, she wrote on her Tumblr: "It is important to push boundaries, to try new things, and not to re-create…I'm extremely proud of the work I have done on both of my albums before now. 'Made of Bricks' and 'My Best Friend Is You'… But just to let you all know, I will never make those albums ever again".
