Katy Perry looks set to equal a singles record set by Michael Jackson in 1987.

If the single 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)' hits the summit of the Billboard charts she will have scored five Number One singles from the same album, a feat not managed since Michael Jackson released five Number Ones from 'Bad'.

So far, her third album 'Teenage Dream' has given the star chart-toppers with 'California Gurls (feat Snoop Dogg)', 'Teenage Dream', 'Firework' and 'ET'.

It is rumoured by Rolling Stone that she may even push for a sixth single after going five-for-five, with 'Peacock' put up as a likely candidate.

The album itself, released in August last year, debuted at Number One, selling 192,000 copies in its first week. It has so far sold 1,597,000 in the US alone.

Katy Perry is also close to the summit of the US box office with The Smurfs. She lends her voice to Smurfette in the new movie, which opened in America on Friday.
