Katy Perry has released a video teaser for her new single 'Roar' – you can watch the short clip by scrolling down the page and clicking 'play'.

In the video, Perry steps out of the darkness with a lighter and sets fire to the blue wig she wore throughout her 'California Dream' world tour. Titled 'Burning Baby Blue', the trailer appears to symbolise a possible change to a more mature, serious image.

The track, to be released on August 12, is the first to be taken from her forthcoming new album 'Prism'. Last week, confirmed that 'Prism' would be released in October.

The US pop star announced the name and release date of the album in ostentatious fashion last Monday (July 29) via a giant gold truck with "Katy Perry - Prism - 10-22-13" written on its side driving through the streets of Los Angeles. 'Prism' will be the US singer's third solo album and follows the 2010 release of 'Teenage Dream'. The hugely popular album included the singles 'California Gurls', 'Firework' and 'Last Friday Night'.

Earlier this year, Perry joined The Rolling Stones onstage in Las Vegas. The 'Teenage Dream' singer joined the band during their show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in May for a duet with Mick Jagger on the 'Some Girls' classic 'Beast Of Burden'.
