Katy Perry's 'Roar' tops the UK iTunes chart

Katy Perry has topped the UK iTunes chart with her new single 'Roar'.

The track debuted in at Number One, after the singer brought the release date forward. The song was originally scheduled for release on September 8. The track was downloaded over 550,000 times in its first week on sale in the US, making it the highest week one sales for any single released in 2013.

'Roar' is the first track to be taken from Perry's forthcoming third album 'Prism', which is due on October 22. Perry has recently unveiled preview clips of two further tracks from the album, 'Walking On Air' and 'Dark Horse'.

Meanwhile, the singer recently announced that she will headline the closing night (September 30) of this year's iTunes Festival at London's Roundhouse. Perry will be supported on the night by Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop, who scored a recent Number One single with 'I Love It'.

'Prism' is Perry's follow-up to her 2011 album 'Teenage Dream', which has now sold over 1.1 million copies in the UK after spawning the hit singles 'California Girls', 'Firework', 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)', 'Part Of Me' and 'Teenage Dream'.
