Katy Perry unveils 'Roar' video – watch
Singer reveals jungle-themed clip for new single
The jungle-themed clip sees Perry stranded after a plane accident and forced to pit her wits against the local wildlife to survive. The track topped the UK iTunes chart last weekend after she brought the release date forward from September 8 to August 31, and the track was downloaded over 550,000 times in its first week on sale in the US, making it the highest week one sales for any single released in 2013.
Celebrating her achievement, Katy Perry tweeted:
'Roar' is the first track to be taken from Perry's forthcoming third album 'Prism', which is due on October 22. Perry has recently unveiled preview clips of two further tracks from the album, 'Walking On Air' and 'Dark Horse'.
Meanwhile, the singer recently announced that she will headline the closing night (September 30) of this year's iTunes Festival at London's Roundhouse. Perry will be supported on the night by Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop, who scored a recent Number One single with 'I Love It'.
'Prism' is Perry's follow-up to her 2011 album 'Teenage Dream', which has now sold over 1.1 million copies in the UK after spawning the hit singles 'California Girls', 'Firework', 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)', 'Part Of Me' and 'Teenage Dream'.
