Katy Perry last night (September 30) revealed a brand new song that deals with her divorce from Russell Brand.

Performing the closing show of 2013's iTunes festival, which took place each night throughout September at London's Roundhouse venue, Perry said that the track, 'By The Grace Of God', had never been heard before.

In it, Perry appears to reveal intimate details about her personal life following the dissolution of her marriage in 2011. It includes a line thanking her sister for her support, "Thank my sister for keeping my head above the water - when the truth was like swallowing sand," and suggests that the singer had been having suicidal thoughts. The ballad ends with the line, "I looked in the mirror and decided to stay."

Speaking to Billboard, Perry said the song was "evident of how tough" her divorce had been. "I asked myself, 'Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?'

'By The Grace Of God' is set to appear on Perry's forthcoming third album 'Prism', the title of which informed a Roundhouse stage set covered with prism-like objects. Following support acts Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea, Perry performed a 45-minute show that included numerous hits, including 'Firework', 'California Gurls'. 'I Kissed A Girl' and recent Number 1 single 'Roar'.

Over 30 days, iTunes Festival 2013 featured shows from Elton John, Jake Bugg, Queens Of The Stone Age and more. All the iTunes Festival performances can be streamed for free via the official app, via iTunes, or with Apple TV.

Katy Perry played:

Walking on Air
