Keane singer Tom Chaplin has spoken about his stint in rehab.

As previously reported, in early September Keane scrapped their North American tour to allow for singer Chaplin to have treatment for alcohol and drug addiction.

The singer who left The Priory over a fortnight ago, told BBC 6Music: “When your life become unmanageable, that’s when you have to do something about it.

“You walk to the edge of the cliff and look into the abyss and either kind of jump off or turn around. Thankfully it was the latter.”

Although Chaplin’s rehab facility The Priory had housed Pete Doherty and Justin Hawkins he said it was not a “trendy health farm”.

“There are people in there,” he said, “including myself, who do have a lot of problems. People who are dealing with life and death situations.”

The singer said he was: “Taking life as it comes.”
