Keane speak from recording sessions in Paris

Keane are recording their third album in Paris, songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley has revealed.

The band had been working on songs for three weeks at their base in Sussex, but have now relocated to the French capital to work with US producer Jon Brion who has worked with the likes of Kanye West and Rufus Wainwright.

“All sounding energised, weird, new and exciting,” Rice-Oxley wrote of the band’s new material on his Keanemusic.com/ blog. “Can’t sleep – brain racing with thoughts about synthersiser parts and drum fills. Jon Brion arrived yesterday to contribute his worldwind of crazy ideas, pushing us even further out of our comfort zone than we’ve already pushed ourselves. Learning a lot from him, which I always love.”

The keyboard player admitted though it has not being all work for the band, saying the trio enjoyed cocktails with The Puppini Sisters who were in the city for a gig.

“Many mojitos consumed and much nonsensical fat-chewing,” explained Rice Oxley. “They sprang a gorgeous a cappella rendition of ’Everybody’s Changing’ on us, raising raucous applause from everyone in the crowded bar.”
