Dr Dre and Kendrick Lamar preview new collaboration in Beats advert – watch

The pair preview their new song in a commercial for portable speakers

Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar have previewed a new collaboration in an advert for the Beats Pill, a portable speaker system from Dre's Beats.

The advert sees Lamar and Dre in the studio together working on a song. Lamar, who is signed to Dre's Aftermath Entertainment label, is shown getting frustrated at being unable to perfect the track and leaves the studio. Listening back to the song on the speaker, Dre then realises an extra element he can put into the song to improve it. The ad can be seen above, now.

There is no suggestion that the track, which does not have a title, will be released or whether it is even a Dre song or if it belongs to Lamar. Dr Dre and Kendrick Lamar worked together on the rapper's 2012 debut 'Good Kid, Maad City' with Dre appearing on the track 'Compton'.

Dr Dre's continuing involvement with his Beats company extended this week with the announcement that a music streaming service, named Beats Music, will launch next year. Dre first announced the service in 2012, when the service was known as Daisy. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor operates as chief creative officer on the project, which will launch in January 2014. Announcing the launch date via Twitter earlier this week, Reznor described the service as "game-changing".
