Kendrick Lamar has recorded between 30 and 40 songs for his new album, which will be released before the end of 2014.

The rapper is currently working on the follow up to 2012 album 'Good Kid, MAAD City' and spoke to Complex about his progress with the eagerly anticipated record. In the full interview, it is confirmed that Lamar is working with producers Tae Beats and Sounwave of Digi+Phonics, in house producers at his TDE record label, and that between them they have a wealth of new material to pick from.

Speaking about the anticipation and pressure of following up his hugely succesful second album, Lamar remains calm, stating: "If I keep focusing on, 'I need to make something better than 'Good Kid',' it’s going to be just that. That's not challenging yourself. I don't want to become that person reflecting on what has been done. What I'm doing now is the question. I'm only as good as my last word, my last hook, my last bridge."

Meanwhile, Lamar's manager also claims that the stories told by the rapper on 'Good Kid, MAAD City' where merely the beginning of what he has to say. "All these other stories, shit that will blow your brain, have never been heard before because they’re just too personal. There’s still so much to be said. The question is, is he gonna say it?" says Dave Free.

Kendrick Lamar also recently confirmed that Dr. Dre will be working on his new album.
