Kid Rock to throw massive summer street party in his hometown

Alice In Chains, Cypress Hill will join him for Detroit shows

Kid Rock has added a second hometown performance in Detroit this summer and announced plans to turn the two-day event into a massive street party.

After selling out his first show at Comerica Park on July 17, he added a second date on July 18, for which he will be joined by Alice In Chains and Cypress Hill.

Kid Rock has also announced that he will host a chili cook-off on the surrounding streets throughout the weekend, an auto show and a battle of the bands competition on a second stage.

Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, is known for having multiple run-ins with the police. In February 2005, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting DJ Jay Campos in a strip club. He was then said to have assaulted Mötley Crüe drummer - and ex-husband of Rock's ex-wife Pamela Anderson - Tommy Lee at the MTV Awards.
