King’s Speech, Inception, Social Network up for Golden Globe 2011 awards

'The King's Speech' receives seven nods as shortlists are revealed

British drama The King’s Speech led the film nominations for the Golden Globe awards 2011 as they were announced today (December 14).

The film is up for awards in seven key categories including Best Film Drama and acting honours for Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush.

The Fighter and David Fincher‘s The Social Network are both up for six awards including Best Motion Picture. Also featured in that category are Inception and The Black Swan.

The films nominated for Best Comedy or Musical are The Kids Are All Right, Alice in Wonderland, Burlesque, The Tourist and Red.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association are the organisation behind the Golden Globes – one of Hollywood‘s key film and television awards shows ahead of the Oscars, which take place on February 27.

The Golden Globes will be presented on January 16 in Beverly Hills.
