Kings Of Leon to release new album in 2010

Band reveal plans for 'Only By The Night' follow-up

Kings Of Leon have revealed that they plan to release a new album next year.

The Followill brothers said that the plan was to record the follow-up to 'Only By The Night' after 2009 touring duties were over - and release it in the latter half of 2010.

"We're touring until the end of this year so we can't start until 2010 but it'll come out probably fall of 2010," guitarist Matthew Followill told BBC 6 Music. He added that the album may be "a little grungier" than previous efforts.

Bassist Jared Followill said that the band had already started work on writing for the album. "The next album that we make, that we're already working on, I can assure you, is one that I'm the most excited about," he said.

He added: "We haven't really got down to lyrics yet but (we have) a lot of good stuff. It's cool."

Kings Of Leon won the Best International Album and Best International Group awards at the BRIT awards last night (February 18).

One of the hardest working bands around. Normally we have to wait around years between band's releases and we get bored and start to forget why we like them. Looking forward to hearing what twist they make on their sound with the next album, each evolution so far has added something and made their catalogue even stronger.

i hope the new album is "a little grungier" as i cant help but feel these country boys are wasting themselves not making dirty rock tunes when they are so fucking good at it.

I'm glad they plan on making it grungier, because Only By The Night was commercial, middle-of-the-road rubbish. Kings Of Leon are better than that, as they showed with their first 3 albums, so hopefully this latest one was just a blip.

Yeh, another stadium rock on it's way, the last two albums have got progressively worse, I dread to think what the next one will be like.

If it follows the line of the latest two albums, they it will surely suck big time. sissy boys they've become.

I understand why bands make a commercial album, and don't think there's anything wrong with it. What's the harm in getting more people to like you! I reckon they will get back to their roots though and the next album will hopefully be a lot more like Youth and Young Manhood
