Kings Of Leon have postponed tour dates in Australia and South Africa due to drummer Nathan Followill having surgery.

The sticksman went under the knife after suffering a torn bicep and can't play live for three months, meaning a series of shows that had been set for March have been pulled.

The shows will be rescheduled for November – the new dates have not been announced yet.

"Sorry to all the fans in Australia and South Africa," Followill wrote on his Twitter page, "My bum wing needs more time to heal but we'll be back later this year. Sorry again."

The postponed tour dates are:

Brisbane QSAC Stadium (March 6)
Sydney Acer Arena (8, 10)
Adelaide Oval (13)
Melbourne Rod Laver Arena (17, 18)
Perth nib Stadium (21)
Cape Town Stadium (24)
Johannesburg FNB Stadium (27)
