Kiss singer Gene Simmons rates Miley Cyrus's tongue-wagging: 'It was a girl's version'
Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has rated Miley Cyrus's tongue-wagging display at the MTV VMAs last month (August), calling it "a girl's version".

Cyrus stuck out her tongue provocatively on numerous occasions during her infamous medley with Robin Thicke at the awards bash - a performance which also saw her point at Thicke's crotch with a foam finger and "twerk" against the front of his trousers. Cyrus's exploits became an incredibly hot topic online and drew criticism from a leading US parents' group and the inventor of the foam finger, who claimed that the singer had "degraded" an "icon".

Now Simmons, who is known for showing off the full length of his seven-inch tongue on stage and in publicity photos, has given his verdict on Cyrus's tongue-wagging. "It was OK," he told Rolling Stone. "But that's a girl's version. It's like girls' basketball. It's as good as girls can get at basketball. But you can't play with the guys."

However, Simmons also insisted that Cyrus has received unfair criticism for her raunchy display at the VMAs on August 25. "I don't understand why people got so upset," he said. "Whether you stick out your tongue or shake your tushy, all the other girls are doing the same thing. Any girl whose name ends with an A—Madonna, Shakira, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, all these girls who sing pop songs through backing tracks like it's karaoke and gyrate all over the stage - if they can do it, why can't Miley? Either condemn the whole lot of them or leave her alone."

Meanwhile, it has recently been confirmed that Cyrus has collaborated with Kanye West on a forthcoming remix of 'Black Skinhead', a track from his latest album 'Yeezus'. The singer will release her own new album 'Bangerz' on October 4.
