Klaxons replace Lily Allen in New York Klaxons Tickets

Klaxons tonight (April 12) replaced Lily Allen at party in Brooklyn after the singer cancelled at the last minute.

Speaking to NME.COM at Hiro Ballroom where Klaxons were guest DJs, James Righton told how the crowd were surprised to see the new ravers take to the stage to perform just four songs at Studio B.

He said: “It was a packed crowd of people expecting Lily Allen and all they got was us!”

Having played a sold-out show at the city’s Bowery Ballroom last night, Righton acknowledged that US gig-goers are different from those at home, but said he did not experience the usual cold crowd-response here.

“It’s not like the UK where everyone kind of collectively decides to lose their minds after the first song,” Righton admitted. “Here it takes two or three songs to get people into it and then you win them over, but every gig’s been quite incredible, and people have responded really well. We were told that American crowds are subdued, but for us they’ve been insane.”

Righton also revealed that the band have tried to play down the hype they’ve been experiencing at home, and are attempting to avoid preconceptions with their American fans.

He stated: “We didn’t want the hype and all the tags to follow us around, new rave, glowsticks etc, we just wanted to get the music out there get the album out there and see what people think.”
