Klaxons warm up for Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals
Band play storming set in packed Sunderland club
Taking to the stage after a blistering set by North-East knob-twiddling electro-head Razmataz Lorry Excitement, the band were on rousing form, despite ongoing problems in recent months that saw Jamie Reynolds break his tibia and James Righton contract laryngitis.
Opening their regular cover of Nineties rave song 'The Bouncer' with cries of "If You’re Not From Sunderland, You're Not Coming In", Reynolds was surprisingly agile throughout the gig, only resorting to crutches in order to brandish them playfully at the capacity crowd.
Temporary member Joe Daniel, founder of Angular Records and guitarist for The Violets, continued to fill in for Reynolds on bass, as he did on the group’s recent Japanese tour.
Klaxons played:
'The Bouncer'
'Atlantis To Interzone'
'Hall Of Records'
'Totem On The Timeline'
'Golden Skans'
'As Above, So Below'
'Two Receivers'
'Magick'
'Forgotten Works'
'Gravity's Rainbow'
'Isle Of Her'
'It’s Not Over Yet'
'Four Horsemen Of 2012'
Klaxons headline the Radio 1/NME Stage at the Leeds leg of the Carling Weekend today (August 24), followed by Reading on Sunday (26).
