Klaxons’ producer James Ford has told NME.COM of his delight at the band, whose album ‘Myths Of The Near Future’ he worked on, winning the Mercury Music Prize last night (September 4).

The producer explained that he had been relaxing at home when he heard the news, so immediately went to the Grosvenor House Hotel to join the celebrations.

“I was just sitting with my girl at home, eating my tea, when I saw the announcement,” Ford explained, “I was really shocked. I thought, ‘I’m not going to be able to sleep now’, so I jumped in a cab and came down.

“One of the lads had to attach a broken wristband with chewing gum to sneak me in. I’m totally made up and surprised.”

It was certainly worth joining the party as Klaxons' celebration went on all night and spilled over on to breakfast TV this morning.
