Klaxons have revealed how their new songs are progressing, describing them as "heavy and delirious".

Simon Taylor-Davis also explained how the group are behind schedule after taking off longer than they planned to recover from their hectic 2007.

The guitarist told BBC 6Music: “We’ve got back together to start writing and we are just kind of starting and it’s sounding really, really good and heavy and delirious and a bit all over the shop.”

Taylor-Davis also said that the band were "dead" after last year and so have only just begun to work on the follow-up to 'Myths Of The Near Future', saying: “After last year, we were just dead and we needed to stop and breathe and leave each other’s side for a little bit so everything’s been shuffled a bit further forward – or backwards - but hopefully the record will be out this year still.”

Klaxons are playing the O2 Arena for the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig on Thursday (February 28).

Featuring Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, The Cribs and this year’s Godlike Geniuses the Manic Street Preachers, you could join in the action by being there.
