Klaxons announce new single Klaxons Tickets

Band cover Suicide in celebration of Alan Vega's 70th year

Klaxons have announced details of a new single to be released this October.

The band release a cover of Suicide's 'Sweetheart' as a download and 10-inch vinyl (limited to 3,000 copies) on October 1. The song is one of a number of releases in the past few months celebrating Suicide mainmain Alan Vega's 70th year.

Klaxons' version of 'Sweetheart' was recorded earlier this year and produced by band member Jamie Reynolds.

The likes of The Horrors, Bruce Springsteen, Primal Scream, Peaches and Lydia Lunch have all contributed to the project previously, and in the coming months Grinderman, Mogwai, Iggy Pop, Spiritualized, Julian Cope, Vincent Gallo and Liars are set to release their own cover versions.

In a statement, Vega said he was shocked by the sheer number of bands clamouring to cover Suicide.

"I'm knocked out by these new versions, they just keep on coming and coming and they're like whole new worlds to me... so completely different... and some of these new upcoming bands, man, they've really got into it. It's really great. It's like a soap opera, you know, what's gonna happen in the next episode?!"

As well as Klaxons’ version of 'Sweetheart', the 10-inch vinyl release features Vega's 'Speedway' and No Bra covering Suicide's 'Super Subway Comedian'.
