Klaxons have given an update on their forthcoming third album, revealing that they have learned to make electronic music for the first time during the recording process.

The band, who released second album 'Surfing The Void' in 2010, are expected to release their new album in 2013 and have been working with a number of different producers on the material, including Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers. The band's Jamie Reynolds spoke to Radio 1's Zane Lowe about the album last night (Nov 20), revealing that the recording sessions have been a "learning process" for the group.

"We’ve worked with loads of different people, but it’s been a learning process I think," he said. "We have learned to make electronic music with computers, that’s been our mission over the last however long... [it's] been about a year’s worth of learning electronics and computers, which is something that we didn’t know anything about. I wouldn’t know how to have made an electronic drumbeat until this time last year."

Reynolds did deny that the album is completely guitar free, however, adding: "There are guitars on it, it’s electronic, you know; it’s synthesised and electronic drums and the rest of it, with computers."

Klaxons recently played new songs 'Invisible Forces' and 'Rhythm Of Life' for the first time during a Paris show. Read more about that performance here.
