LAST SHAKE

Mr Mills talks to [a]NME[/a]...

Kula Shaker's last recorded material is to be a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Ballad Of A Thin Man' which will be released sometime next year on a Dylan tribute album.

Last week, frontman Crispian Mills said: "The song includes the line, 'Something's happening here but I don't know what it is'. I thought that was highly appropriate for my band."

Kula Shaker split last week after Mills announced his decision to go solo.

He said: "I have loved my time with Kula Shaker and have experienced more than I could ever have imagined. The time is right now for me to move on and try new experiences, new musical ideas.

"Alonza (Bevan, bass) Paul (Winterhart, drums), Jay (Darlington, keyboards) and myself have grown up together, I will always consider them to be friends and much more.

"I have been amazed by the love and support we have received over the last few years and would like to thank everyone who has been part of this incredible ride."

The band's split follows the disappointing sales of their second album, 'Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts'.

Mills will still record for Columbia Records, part of Sony Music UK. It is not yet known what the other members of Kula Shaker plan to do.
