‘Kung Fu Panda’ team sign up for ‘Karate Kid’ sequel

Writing talents behind animated hit sign on for 'The Karate Kid 2'

Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, the scriptwriters behind DreamWorks‘ 2008 animated movie Kung Fu Panda have signed on to write The Karate Kid sequel.

The pair were previously attached to the original version of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood when it had the working title Nottingham, and wrote TV show Sleeper Cell.

The Karate Kid, a reboot of the 1980s franchise, was produced by Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, and starred their son Jaden.

The film saw a return of nearly $300m at the box office, suggesting several more films will be made.
