La Roux's Elly Jackson will guest star in the New Years' episode of the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous.

The synthpop singer posted a message on her Twitter account confirming that she would be featuring in the BBC One show alongside regular stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.

She wrote:

Elly will make a guest appearance on the New Years episode of 'Absolutely Fabulous' on 1st January at 9.40pm on BBC One.

In 2009, it was revealed that Jackson's mother was the actress Trudie Goodwin, who is best known for her role as Sergeant June Ackland in The Bill. She portrayed the character in the ITV drama series for over 20 years, from 1984 to 2007.

La Roux released their self-titled debut album in 2009, and are currently working on the as-yet-untitled follow-up. In 2010, Jackson declared that synth music was "so over" and said she was "bored" with the band's previous direction, adding: "I want [the next album] to be more human, more open, warmer."

In January of this year, meanwhile, Jackson hinted that La Roux had been writing songs for the new album with an "established" indie band, but refused to reveal who they were.
