La Roux hook up with Nile Rodgers for new album
Chic legend reveals that he is working with La Roux on their long-awaited second album
In an interview with the Daily Star, Rodgers admitted that he has become smitten with La Roux's quiff-sporting singer Elly Jackson.
He said: "I totally fell in love with La Roux, it was just insane. I only work with people who are monsters, and I was impressed with how organic and cool Elly was. She's the person that's in my cross-hairs right now."
Rodgers and Jackson are set to continue their collaboration at a festival in Switzerland later this week. Jackson announced on Twitter yesterday: "For those of you that don't know I'll be singing with Nile Rodgers at the Montreux jazz fest on Friday night. Footage will hopefully follow."
La Roux - Jackson and multi-instrumentalist Ben Langmaid - have been working on their second album since the start of 2011. Their self-titled debut, released in 2009, spawned the hit singles 'In For The Kill' and 'Bulletproof' and won a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
Rodgers, 59, is currently touring with his reformed band Chic. He has produced albums for Madonna, Diana Ross and Grace Jones, but admitted that he particularly enjoys working with UK talent like La Roux. "British artists have a stronger knowledge base of music, it's always experimental," he explained.
