La Roux's Elly Jackson has revealed that her upcoming second album is "a lot sexier" than her first effort.

The album, which has been five years in the making, is titled 'Trouble In Paradise' and will be released on July 7. During the course of recording the LP, Jackson separated from musical partner Ben Langmaid, and recently told NME that "there wasn't a great deal of understanding" between them when it came to making new music.

"It's a lot warmer, it's a lot sexier," Jackson told Rolling Stone. "I've said a lot but it's true, I can't think of a better way to explain it. I wouldn't say it's more playful, but it's playful in different way. It's cheekier – I would say it's musically cheekier. And I think it's got a lot more groove because it's all kind of performance based."

Jackson went on to discuss the success she and her former-bandmate Ben Langmaid achieved with their debut five years ago, saying:

"There's a lot of commercial dance music now, but there's not as much of a zeitgeist as there was in 2009. But I think in a way it's a good thing. I think the thing about that first record is that if it had come out at any other time, I don't think it would have been as successful as it was. I think we were very lucky in the way that we caught it at a time where there was something going on and there was a definite theme in the music that was coming out."

La Roux first came to prominence in 2008 with debut single ‘Quicksand’ and had a string of successful singles including ‘In For The Kill’ and ‘Bulletproof’ alongside a Number Two album with their self-titled debut LP.

Meanwhile, Jackson played a set filled with new material during a gig at Danforth Music Hall earlier this week (June 1), which included the previously unheard 'Cruel Sexuality' and 'Kiss And Not Tell.' She also performed 'Let Me Down Gently' and 'Uptight Downtown', both of which have been released in the run up to the release of the second La Roux album.
