La Roux blasts mainstream chart pop La Roux Tickets

Singer isn't keen on Top Ten company she's keeping

La Roux has blasted the state of the UK singles chart, despite riding high in it herself.

The fast-rising electro star is currently at Number Two with her single 'In For The Kill', but in an exclusive video interview with NME.COM she said she has little time for most mainstream pop.

"I must be honest, I'm not overly positive about it," she said. "To me, pop music has always had two sides. It's always had the Backstreet Boys side, music for kids, the novelty tracks and one-hit-wonder side. And the other side is the classier side such as David Bowie, The Beatles, Prince and Michael Jackson.

"I just feel like this side is missing too much, and have a lot of this boy/girl band, novelty song, one-hit-wonder going on. And I'm not gonna lie, I am not a massive fan of R&B as you can hear by my music, and there is a lot of that in the charts at the moment, so I don't listen to the charts that much."

La Roux's song "Going in for the Kill" is one of the worst songs I've heard in a long time. For me it's just not pleasant to listen to, and I see no redeeming qualities in that song. Whatever the singers name is (La Roux? or is that the bands name) she puts on an air of contempt in her lyrics that I find apalling. I'm going in for the kill......what a lousy lyric that is. I don't know if I could ever listen to this group/performer again and not be biased on the basis of this song.Apparently there are people who like this, probably the same folks who would have bought Backstreet boys back in the day.
