Lady Gaga had become the first celebrity to notch up more than 10million followers on Twitter.

The 'Judas' singer reached the landmark on the same weekend that saw her preview new album 'Born This Way' at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle.

Thanking her fans on, she said: "10 million Monsters! I'm speechless, we did it! It's an illness how I love you. Leaving London smiling."

Gaga became the first person to pass 9million followers in March, having overtaken Britney Spears last August, according to BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat.

She currently has 24million 'likes' on Facebook.

Gaga took to the stage in Carlisle last night from a black coffin and went on to preview tracks 'The Edge Of Glory' and 'You And I' alongside singles 'Born This Way' and 'Judas'. The album is out next Monday (May 23).
