An 18 year-old German hacker, known only as DJ Stolen, has been sentenced to 18 months in juvenile detention after admitting to stealing songs from Lady Gaga, Leona Lewis and Justin Timberlake amongst others.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, earned over £13,000 by stealing music and personal details from Lady Gaga, Leona Lewis, Ke$ha, Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake.

He did this using phishing emails and Trojan Horse software to steal unpublished songs and then offer them for sale on the internet, reports BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat.

The hacker, who was named in court as Deniz A, also downloaded explicit images from Ke$ha's computer and leaked them onto the internet.

He has been ordered to undergo treatment for addiction to the internet as part of his sentence. He has already written to Lady Gaga to apologise for his actions.

A fellow hacker, who is 23 years-old, was given an 18 month suspended sentence for his part in the offences.
