Lady Gaga has launched her very own social networking site, Littlemonsters.com.

The site has been named in honour of the 'Born This Way' singer's fans, who refer to themselves as 'Little Monsters'. CNN reports that the site, which is currently beta testing in invite-only mode, is similar to Pinterest.com, but will also let fans share and make photos and videos and flag up favoured content from other users.

Little Monsters is the first venture of Backplane, a company co-founded by Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter. "Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga's community just so happens to be the community we're using to learn about proper functionality. We think we can really change the world," said Backplane CEO Matt Michelsen to Mashable.

Two Door Cinema Club's Alex Trimble recently claimed that Lady Gaga has helped give "exposure" to indie bands. The Northern Irish group's remix of Gaga's track 'Electric Chapel' has surfaced online, with Trimble insisting that he and his bandmates couldn't turn down the chance to work with the star.

When asked if it surprised him to think that Gaga was a fan of his band, Trimble told NME: "Yeah, I do think it's odd. At the end of the day she's just another human being, but she's name that almost everyone over the world knows. She's such a huge phenomenon, so it's strange to think that somebody like that would be listening to a band like us."
