Lady Gaga is set to make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming movie Men In Black 3, it has been revealed.

The 'Born This Way' singer's guest role was confirmed by star Will Smith, who told www.ElCorilloRD.com – via the Daily Mail – about her appearance during a promotional interview in Rio. He said:

We have a couple of celebrity cameos, but I think I can not reveal who they are. We must keep as a surprise that Lady Gaga appears.

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger also appears as a villain – alongside original stars Smith and Tommy Lee Jones – in the new movie, which is set for release in May.

The late Michael Jackson made a cameo appearance in the second film in the sci-fi comedy franchise, Men In Black II in 2002. The first film was released in 1997.

Lady Gaga recently responded to NME after we dubbed 'Born This Way' the "most pretentious album ever". The singer took to Twitter to vent her anger after she read our recent blog post - titled The 10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever.

Gaga wrote: "Oh the irony of winning "Most Pretentious Album Ever" from none other than NME. *eyeroll* I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism."

The singer's 2011 album was among a host of LPs criticised for being pretentious, including Metallica and Lou Reed's recent collaboration 'Lulu', The Smashing Pumpkins' 'Machina/The Machines Of God' and Mansun's 'Six'.
