Lady Gaga has revealed that Lily Allen was the inspiration behind her 2009 track 'So Happy I Could Die'.

In an exchange on Twitter, the 'Born This Way' star told Allen that she had written the song - which featured on her 'The Fame Monster' LP – with her in mind, and also expressed her approval of the 'Smile' singer's decision to use her married name in her career.

Allen, who revealed earlier this month that all of her future recordings will be released under the name Lily Rose Cooper, initiated the back-and-forth by writing: " I had a really weird dream about Lady Gaga last night."

Gaga then replied:

In response, Allen wrote: ''@ladygaga god I Hope it doesn't happen again, if I wasn't with child I would have chomped my way through a bottle of Xanax by now #theanxiety," to which Gaga responded:

@lilyrosecooper that would never happen! Wed more likely kidnap you + beg you to sing 'So Happy I Could Die'. thought of you when I wrote that.

Earlier this month, Lily Allen confirmed that she is heading back into the studio to record new material she has been working on over the past few months, and also recently revealed that she is expecting her second child – saying that she was surprised nobody guessed she was pregnant after her appearance with Professor Green at The Stone Roses' second Heaton Park show (June 30). She also made a surprise guest appearance at a Pink show in Los Angeles earlier this week (August 22), as the pair performed their newly recorded duet, 'True Love'.

Lady Gaga, meanwhile, has hinted that she is set to collaborate with rapper Azealia Banks. The singer caused concern last week (August 16) when she vomited during the middle of her gig in Bucharest, Romania.
