Lady Gaga has revealed that she's written 50 songs for her forthcoming new album 'ARTPOP'.

The 'Born This Way' singer will release her fourth album next year and, in a conversation with fans on Twitter, said she had a wealth of new material that could end up on the LP - although she hadn't decided yet which songs would make the final tracklisting.

She wrote:

I have written like 50 songs. I don't know what will rise to top. But that's how I wrote the fame/the fame monster.

Gaga also dropped some hints about a series of star-studded collaborations that could be included on the record, and promised that even if they didn't end up on 'ARTPOP', she would release them anyway. "I'm not sure yet. Stands pretty firm on its own," she replied to one fan who asked her about the prospect of collaborations. "Ill release collabs regardless if they're on album or not, that's what's nice about app. I can upload new material all the time."

The singer has previous form for releasing collaborations which aren't attached to any project - last month, she unveiled her duet with rapper Kendrick Lamar 'Bitch Don't Kill Me Vibe'. A song by the pair was due to feature on the Lamar's debut studio LP 'Good Kid, MAAD City', however Gaga last month confirmed that she wasn't able to submit her vocals on time for the album's deadline.

Last month, Gaga released a second bizarre clip for a track titled 'Cake', after the first preview debuted online earlier this month. The singer teamed up with renowned photographer Terry Richardson to make the film, with the clip showing her in her underwear writhing around in a pile of mashed-up cake. Covered in buttercream, and in need of a wash, she climbs into a Jacuzzi to clean down (and shake her bottom).

Cake' is expected to be the 'Poker Face' star's next single, but is not thought to be among the tracks on 'ARTPOP'. It's also been suggested by sources close to Gaga that 'ARTPOP' is behind schedule due to hectic touring commitments and promotional duties.
