Lady Gaga has claimed that her forthcoming new album, 'ARTPOP', is "very risky".

In an online conversation with her fans on her Little Monsters social networking site, the singer fielded questions about recording sessions on the LP and what people could expect. The dialogue has now been published online by fan site Ultimategaga.com.

Speaking about the record, she said:

My favourite things about 'Born This Way' album is that it was risky and its own thing. 'ARTPOP' is very risky. If you're not taking a risk you're not breaking any boundaries.

The singer also claimed that the reason she had been working on the album for such a long time was because of her insistence on writing all her own material and not accepting songs written by other people. "I feel so bad. I know you all wanna kill me," she said. "But nobody writes my songs for me! Every single song you've ever heard by me, I created from nothing with friends. So it takes some time. New inspiration. New sounds. New experiences."

"I feel like 'ARTPOP' is what I've been making since 'The Fame'. It's what has defined me and my fans and we are claiming the music that is ours. I love you guys so much," she concluded.

She also said that she had been abstaining from smoking marijuana while recording the album. "No weed on 'ARTPOP. No," she quipped, before adding: "Weed in the bathtub though. Hahaha."

Earlier this week (December 26), Gaga confirmed she is currently making a film with famed photographer Terry Richardson to make a documentary-style movie. The singer was last seen onstage with The Rolling Stones during the band's final date of their 50-year anniversary gigs at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, when she joined the legendary band for 'Gimmie Shelter'.
