Lady Gaga is to perform at US President Barack Obama's inauguration ball, according to reports.

The 'Born This Way' star is expected to sing for White House staff at the private event on Tuesday (January 22), reports The Associated Press.

They claim a source close to the inauguration organisation has let slip news about the singer's planned performance at the ball on the promise of anonymity, as she wasn't authorised to publicly reveal the information.

During the last White House staff inauguration ball, Jay-Z reportedly performed at the event. According to one attendee, the rapper changed the lyrics of his hit song '99 Problems' to include "I've got 99 problems but George Bush ain't one".

Gaga isn't the only popular singer being invited by the White House to perform over the next few days. Beyonce is set to perform at Monday's (January 21) inauguration ceremony. She will sing the National Anthem of the United States at the event, which will take place outside the Capitol building in Washington, DC.

Beyonce previously performed at one of Obama's inauguration balls four years ago, singing Etta James's 'At Last' whilst Obama and his wife Michelle had their first dance. Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor will also be singing at Obama's second inauguration on Monday.
