Lady Gaga has claimed that US gossip blogger Perez Hilton sent her a mocking text message when a hip injury left her confined to a wheelchair earlier this year (2013).

This February, Gaga was forced to cancel a slew of tour dates while she underwent surgery for the injury, which left her unable to perform. The singer later revealed that the injury was more serious than she originally realised and she had, in fact, broken her hip.

Gaga is now back on fighting form and has promised fans an "one hour of all new music" when she takes to the stage at London's Roundhouse on the opening night of this year's iTunes Festival on September 1. However, she apparently hasn't forgotten being allegedly taunted by Hilton while she was injured, telling her 39 million Twitter followers last night (August 16):

In her next tweet, the singer urged fans not to be upset on her behalf, saying: "Please monsters do not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance."

Hilton has yet to respond directly to Gaga's comments, but did post the following tweet shortly after Gaga had publicly scolded him: "Woah! @LadyGaGa's Applause has dropped to #4 on @iTunesMusic in America. That country singer, Luke Bryan, is beating her."

Earlier this week, Gaga unveiled the trailer for her forthcoming album 'ARTPOP', which is set for release on November 11. The 47-second clip shows the singer with her face covered in plastic being roundly jeered while a series of messages are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Seemingly making light of any backlash she might receive for the new LP, they include slogans such as "Lady Gaga is no longer relevant" and "Ever since 'Born This Way', she's a flop". You can watch the clip by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

'Applause', the lead single from 'ARTPOP', is currently being outsold by 'Roar', the first track from Katy Perry's forthcoming album 'Prism', by two copies to one in the US. 'Applause' is expected to debut inside the Top Ten on the UK's Official Singles Chart tomorrow (August 18).
