Lady Gaga has announced that she will be the last artist to perform at New York's Roseland Ballroom before it closes on April 2, 2014.

The singer will play four nights at the historic venue on March 28, 30, 31 and April 2. Fans can register for tickets via the singer's Little Monsters social networking site.

In October, it was announced that the Roseland Ballroom will close. The 3,500 capacity venue, which is owned by developer Larry Ginsberg and is booked by Live Nation, opened on 52nd Street in 1958. The site was originally located on 51st Street, where it opened in 1919.

It has been a favourite among bands as the site developed from a ballroom dancefloor in the 1920s through to rock’n'roll, disco, grunge right through to hosting the current crop of EDM artists.

"The owners of 239 West 52nd Street have operated the Roseland Ballroom for over three decades," a spokesperson for the venue told NME previously. "Managing Roseland has been a labour of love, which is why the owners have deferred major changes for all these years. Though final plans for the property will not be made until next year, redevelopment of the property is the likely outcome. Roseland will cease operations at the end of April 2014."
