Lady Gaga says she was betrayed and mismanaged over 'ARTPOP' project
The singer explains the delay for the video for her new single 'Do What You Want'
The singer made the comments in a post on her Little Monsters social network explaining to fans why there was a delay with the video to her new single 'Do What You Want'.
"It is late because, just like with the 'Applause' video unfortunately, I was given a week to plan and execute it," she wrote. "Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued as a result. Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more."
Last February (2013), Lady Gaga cancelled the remaining dates on her Born This Way world tour due to hip pain, which led to her having to undergo surgery.
She parted ways with her long-term manager Troy Carter, in November (2013).
"Unfortunately after my surgery I was too sick, too tired, and too sad to control the damage on my own," she continued in the post. "My label was not aware that this was going on. The next few months of 'ARTPOP' will truly be its beginning. Because those who did not care about ARTPOP's success are now gone…I never thought after all the years of hard work that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most."
Earlier this week, Gaga posted a statement on Little Monsters in response to a fan who had question a media report which suggested that her latest album "ARTPOP' lost her record label Interscope $25 million (£15 million), causing it to make staff redundant.
Gaga said there was "no truth" in the report, adding "I have lost love [sic] ones to the greed of money…It is not interscope. They in fact love me very much and will see 'ARTPOP' to the end."
As the BBC reports, 'Artpop' debuted in the UK at Number One and has sold more than 170,000 copies.
Although The LP has sold more than half a million copies in the US, her previous albums have been far more commercially successful.
2011's 'Born This Way' sold more than two million copies in America, while her 2008 debut 'The Fame' sold more than three million.
