Lady Sovereign reacts to criticism of Brooklyn show
Rapper says she must have looked stupid
Lady Sovereign has commented on her recent set at Brooklyn venue Studio B during which she played just two songs before storming off the stage.
The rapper was set to perform a set at 1.30am following her support slot with Gwen Stefani at PNC Bank Arts Centre, New Jersey but came onstage two hours late at 3.30am after her tour bus reportedly broke down.
During the set Lady Sovereign made several negative comments about the small size of the crowd, admitted that she was just doing the show for the money and that she was tired of playing her songs. She stormed off stage after two songs saying she didn’t care if she got paid.
In a statement released today, she said “I know how stupid i must have looked on Friday, I was tired and not in the mood, having a bad day. But that's no excuse for letting fans down, I'm sorry to those that were at Studio B to see me".
Lady Sovereign will return to New York for a performance on July 7, at the opening night of Spiegeltent.
