Lamb Of God's manager: 'Randy Blythe is innocent and should be released immediately'

Larry Mazer also says the band had 'no idea' about the 2010 incident where a fan died

Lamb Of God's manager Larry Mazer has said that the band's frontman Randy Blythe is "innocent" and "should be released immediately".

Blythe was arrested and charged with manslaughter towards the end of last week and has been told that he will remain in prison for at least another 10 days, despite posting bail of four million korun (£125,000).

The charges stem from an incident that took place on May 24, 2010 at the band's show at Club Abaton in Prague.

According to reports, a fan jumped up on the stage where a tussle ensued in which the fan, known only as Daniel N, was injured. N, who fell from the stage and hit his head on the venue's concrete floor, later died, reportedly as a result of those injuries.

Speaking to Czech website, Mazer said that the whole incident felt "like a bad joke" and that the band had no idea that N had died until last week.

He said: "Randy should be released immediately. His lawyer told us so. In the US he would have been – you post the bail and you're free. Everybody is shocked. It's absurd. It seems like a bad joke – Randy did nothing wrong. He is innocent."

Then asked if he'd been aware of the incident previously, he said: "Nobody contacted us in the last two years. My contact information is publicly available but I never heard from the family. We didn't even heard from the concert organiser. Nobody called us."

He continued: "The organiser now says the police contacted him three months after the boy died. I don’t understand why no one got in touch with us to let us know. He was in a coma and he died, and we never heard from anybody."

Mazer added that he didn't believe claims from Czech authorities that they'd spoke to US officials, saying: "Do you think I would send the band to the Czech Republic to play a concert, knowing something like this could happen? No way."

The rest of Lamb Of God have now returned to the US.
