Lana Del Rey working on 'spiritual' second album Lana Del Rey Tickets
'Born To Die' singer has been writing her new record in Santa Monica, California
Lana Del Rey has revealed that her forthcoming second album will be a more "spiritual" affair.
The 'Video Games' singer, who now lives in the UK, has been writing songs for the follow-up to her 2012 debut album 'Born To Die' in Santa Monica, and has said she now knows what her new record will sound like - stripped down but still cinematic and dark, apparently.
She told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat that her songwriting has "moved on to a more spiritual place lyrically". She said: "It's a little more stripped down but still cinematic and dark. I've been working on it really slowly but I love everything I've done. I've been writing in Santa Monica and I know what the record sounds like. Musically, I've worked with the same three guys. Now I just have to finish it."
Lana Del Rey recently appeared to confirm that she has worked on the soundtrack for the forthcoming Great Gatsby movie. The 'Burning Desire' chanteuse fuelled speculation about her involvement by posting the film's logo to her Facebook page. The image has since been taken down.
Rumours that she had been writing original music for the soundtrack have circulated since an interview last summer, in which she said: "I've been helping compose scores for movies. So, like, there's a movie coming out in the summer that's set in the 1920s and its been fun for me to write love songs for a woman who is the star."
