Laura Marling played a show at the Latitude 30 venue at South By Southwest last night (March 18).

However, originally she had planned to play with Mumford and Sons’ Marcus Johnstone before an unlucky turn of fate scuppered their plan.

The singer/guitarist told the crowd how Mumford and Sons had got their times mixed up – turning up for a flight from New York 12 hours earlier than needed.

Then band member Ben Lovett was forced to leave the flight before takeoff because he had a peanut allergy.

Instead of the collaboration Marling played solo, impressing the crowds with songs including 'Ghosts' and 'Alas I Cannot Swim'.

"Theres a lot of us English folkies out here, make sure you see us all," she told the crowd, explaining that Mumford and Sons were on their way to the festival after the fallout of the mix-up, and would make Thursday’s (March 19) scheduled appearances – minus Lovett.
