Laura Marling wins Shockwaves NME Awards Best Solo Artist honour

Florence Welch and Kanye West were also nominated

Laura Marling has won the Best Solo Artist award at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 23).

The trophy was presented to her at the O2 Academy Brixton by Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart of The Kills.

The other nominees were Florence And The Machine's Florence Welch, Frank Turner, Kanye West and Paul Weller.

Last year Jamie T won the award.

The NME Awards Big Gig takes place on Friday (25). Godlike Genius Dave Grohl's band Foo Fighters headline, with Cee Lo Green, Band Of Horses and No Age also on the bill.
