Lauryn Hill is being sued for harassment and unpaid wages by her former guitarist Jay Gore for over $20,000 (£12,250).

The singer is accused of not paying Gore for the last leg of her 2008 world tour and of verbally abusing her band throughout the trek.

According to TMZ, Gore alleges in the lawsuit that Hill would regularly publicly dress down members of her band in front of groups of people.

A section from the suit reads:
After shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating. At one point, Hill made a statement in front of the tour personnel to the effect that 'I can't believe I am paying you fools, you should be paying me'.

The guitarist's lawyer Nicholas Andrea said that he believes the suit would be the first of many from Hill's touring musicians. He said:
We believe there are other musicians who have been mistreated by Ms. Hill in a similar manner who are reluctant to stand up for their rights and this lawsuit gives them a voice as well.

Lauryn Hill has yet to comment on the accusations or lawsuit.
