HILL STARTS AGAIN

The star is now hard at work on her second solo album...

LAURYN HILL has said her "firelight for recording is back", as she works on her second solo album.

Speaking to MTV news in the US, the former Fugees singer said that she is hard at work on the follow-up to 1998's 'The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill', which is due for release in the autumn.

She said: "My pilot is lit again, my firelight for recording is back. I spent six months in the studio banging my head against the wall because I was trying to put this fresh bread and new wine into those old wine slots."

She said that the as-yet-untitled record will be a more personal affair. Hill continued: "Even with the last album I was stretching out the parameters of hiphop as far as I could. So now it's like something has to give and it's not going to be me. That's what creativity is all about. We call ourselves creators and we just copy it really. I can honestly say that this (new album) has no external influence. It's from the inside out. This is my life."

Hill was planning to play material from her forthcoming album at Mobofest 2001 at Victoria Park in London on August 4. However, the show has been pulled due to problems with sponsorship of the event.
