Frontman James Murphy threatens to 'kick a fan's face in' at London festival

LCD Soundsystem lash out at bottle-throwing crowd at Wireless festival
LCD Soundsystem lashed out at the crowd during their headline set on day two at the Wireless Festival last night (July 3) after fans threw several bottles onstage.

The band, who recently released their third album 'This Is Happening', stopped their set midway through to chastise the lively audience members.

"Hey, anonymous asshole throwing stuff, do that to my face and I'll kick your face in," spat frontman James Murphy before adding: "And then I'll pay your medical bill."

However the raucous crowd eventually settled down and later cheered Murphy on when he singled out an area of the venue and said: "I like this side because everyone is moshing, boys and girls. And that's the coolest thing."

The band performed a host of tracks from all three of their albums, including a warmly received 'All My Friends' and 'Losing My Edge'.

Earlier in the day, Missy Elliott played a set which included her hits 'Work It' and 'Get Ur Freak On'. However her set over-ran after she turned up half-an-hour later than billed, forcing the organisers to pull the plug during the intro to 'Lose Control'.

Yesterday (July 2) opening day of the festival saw The Ting Tings debut a new disco pop song which also featured dancers holding up 'WORK' and 'DANCE' signs.

The pair played a hit laden set which included Number One hit 'That's Not My Name' and 'Great DJ'.

"It's great to escape the studio," said singer Katie White, as the band rounded off their performance.

Friday's headliner Pink played an ambitious show which saw her entering the stage via a crane. Her elaborate set also featured balloons, clowns and a cannon.

"We're the first bitches to headline," she said, before playing a hit-packed performance which saw guest producer Butch Walker duetting on a mash up of The Who's 'My Generation' and Green Day's 'Basket Case'.
