John Squire: 'Led Zeppelin shouldn't tour'

Ex-Stone Roses man says O2 Arena gig should be last for Plant and co.

John Squire: 'Led Zeppelin shouldn't tour'

Ex-Stone Roses guitarist John Squire has said that he does not want to see Led Zeppelin tour following their London 02 Arena reformation show last December, which he attended.

Squire, who since disbanding the Stone Roses has faced constant questions about whether they will reform, said the one-off gig was so good he wouldn't want it tarnished by a full tour following it.

Speaking to NME.COM the guitarist said: "I went to see Led Zeppelin… I was blown away. The Clash in 1977 were probably the only ones who have topped that."

When asked if he’d like to see them tour Squire said: "No, I know it’s selfish [on my part]. They should be allowed to, but I would like that moment [the O2 Arena show] to be crystallised. I don’t want to read reviews of mediocre Led Zeppelin gigs."

Squire, who quit music in 2007, was speaking before the opening of his latest art exhibition, 'Garments Re-Engineered’, at London's Signal Gallery.
