Singer quashes rumours of summer 2009 reunion

Robert Plant has denied rumours that Led Zeppelin are set to tour next year, releasing a statement stating that the he will not be touring or recording with the band.

In the statement the singer said that following his current tour with Alison Krauss he will not be touring with any band or project for at least two years.

Last week (September 26) it was claimed that Plant had agreed to a Led Zeppelin tour.

However, the singer's statement read: "It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward.

"I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."

Just like I thought. I knew Plant was smarter than that. It surprised me when I read the announcement last week. He's doing the right thing and he should commended for it. Not everybody leaves money on the table like he has just done.

Robert Plant always seems to be aloof of the reunion when it rears its head. He forgets who put him in his present position, and the countless millions that have brought every repackaged Zeppelin CD since 1979. I think he is being honest, Jones and Page can still cut it, but his voice sounds like a Sperm Whale, having its bollocks chewed by a load of Dolphins. He is passed it, and he knows it.

Jimmy Page or Alison Krauss?

Poor Old Percy:Still playing his games like he used to back in the day.You cannot take blood from a stone and if Plant doesn't feel motivated to please his former fans, who btw made him the celebrity he has so enjoyed since becoming part of Zep in '69, move on and hire a new singer. If AC/DC can do it, so can Zep. Sure, we will never forget Bon Scott, but Johnson has created a similar but different sound that is by no means a next best thing.Page should have realised this many years ago and continued with the band he so envisaged. In the 70's, Plant was a great singer and committed to the group. His range was truly amazing. But that was then and this is now. Perhaps Myles Kennedy, rumoured to be Plant's replacement will be the new face of Led Zeppelin?Or should we accept that there's no going in through the out door...

...I just cannot believe it. Idk if I even want to go see the other members now. It's just not led zeppelin.(sigh) They will deeply be missed by fans all around the world, and especially myself. I guess this is indeed goodbye to led zeppelin.

Well, let's respect Percy's decision. As for a good candidate - who could be better than Jimmy's 1st choice of singer? The one who pointed in Percy's direction in the first place, introducing Page to Plant and thus putting together LZ... Terry Reid. Super Lungs. May be this time Jimmy will get his way...

you know i highly doubt robert plant will ever see this but i dont think they realize the impact they have had on the world no other band on earth has done what they have done their fanbase raches from ages of 60+ to 12-13 if not younger and i mean massive crowds of each and they havent even played togather minus a few minor apearances and the november show and yet people are die hard fans for them robert plant led zeppelin is nothing without its lead singer and i believe the for of u have said in the past your magic came from your togetherness on stage nobody else can re create that not 2 mention i have no doubt you would quite easily be some of the richest people on earth if u went on tour because your would have to make several venues in each city just to handle the sheer amount of fans its sad that you cant make time for such a momentous possibility in making mjusic history not that u havent done that already but to conclude the work u have created with led zeppelin is some of the most beautiful works of art that man kind has ever made and as hardcore a fan i may be i know hundreds and hundreds of millions of other people from all ages and nationalitys and backrounds feel the exact same waythank you Justin Gallina from canadazeppelin for life

Get a new singer. Someone thats fits in well with zep, and record. NEW music. tour it and play some of the old music too. Its not a hard concept. They've all done it before. They are just wasting time. If all they wanted to do was a stupid nostalgia tour then plant is right not to join it. In any case, he cant sing Led Zeppelin music anymore.I think most people have missed that important point from the beggining. Th 02 show was phenomenal, but plant clearly couldnt keep that up for a year.Just be sure the new guy has at least one foot in roots rock, folk and blues styles.
