'Led Zeppelin will not tour – they're over' says manager

Jimmy Page's manager says the band will not continue in any form

Jimmy Page's manager, Peter Mensch, has said that Led Zeppelin will not tour or continue in any form – even without singer Robert Plant.

Mensch had previously said that the band would tour with Plant replaced by a new singer – but in a new interview with Music Radar he says that the band is no more.

"Led Zeppelin are over," he said. "If you didn't see them in 2007 [at the London O2 Arena], you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."

He added: "They tried out a few singers (to replace Plant), but no one worked out. That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero.

"Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

When asked if Page would be pursuing other musical projects instead of Led Zeppelin, he said, "Fucked if I know. I'm waiting to hear."

I feel relieved at this news - there is an increasing tendency for bands to continue under their original name, but with different members. This can grate with fans who might reluctantly tolerate the new versions of their favourite bands; but much of the original spirit of the band is lost in these projects. Best for Page and co. to pursue something new, I think...

eh? you can't say one day that they are looking to tour, and trying to find a new singer, then the next day say it's not happening, and complain about people asking about it. Nut Job

"Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it." - Um, you're the one who's been banging on about it recently. One minute they're definitely touring without Plant, and the next they're definitely NOT touring. Then you expect people not to talk after you contradict yourself within a matter of days. Silly tosser. Anyway, I do hope they mean it. Touring without Plant is absurd.

A hefty amount of those who attended the 02 gig were corporate guests, musicians and Z list celebs. The average Led Zep fan didn't have a chance of going considering the odds of getting a ticket and the extortionate fee (although it was for charity, it's still a hell of a lot to pay for two hours of music). What a send off for the real fans, eh?

What a little prick his manager sounds! Obvioulsy people are gonna talk about it because Zep were the biggest band of their day! He needs a good slap!

Oh FFS...."if you didn't see them at the O2 you missed them" - millions wanted to see them, including many long time fans but couldn't get a chance! It was galling to see ex big Brother housemates and other celeb airheads getting in but fans being unable to. The band should have played a few big outdoor gigs for all the fans, real fans, who wanted to see them, not the lucky few.Oh...and Peter Mensch wants people to stop talking about it? Well he should keep his own gob shut then. This news story comes a couple of days after one in which he went on about a possible tour - he needs to take his own advice. he's rapidly pissing a lot of angry fans off even more.

Great news. Their legacy can now no longer be reduced to sinders like that of so many other elder statesmen, who were once courageous and are now slightly embarrassing. My dad for one...

What the hell..I have no Idea what's going on now..god damn it what's wrong with touring with a new name, why does it have to be "Led Zep or nothing"? we still like the songs, and there's no one out there that can do them Live other than Page and his mates.

Personally I am delighted with the news, I was there at the O2 and it was one of the greatest moments of my life! I didn't want it tainted with some half arsed tour without Planty, selfish maybe but the O2 was a great send off for such a majestic band!

dennisblandford, you are spot on.

....champion...now if they'd get their fingers out and release the o2 gig then i think most would be happy, but to say ."if you didn't see them at the O2 you missed them" is a bit disrepectful to Bonzo, as in truth be told it was all over in 1980 when he died...

Anyone remember few years back when Page toured with The Black Crowes and they did all the Zep stuff? On paper it didn't seem like a great idea, but it came off amazingly. Chris Robinson can really sing, and they could perform some of the songs with multiple guitar parts that Zep were never able to. Give Live At The Greek a listen if you're curious. I definitely think they should try that again, and if John Paul Jones was interested too, it would be fantastic.

"Fucked if I know. I'm waiting to hear." lol, now there's a man who's comments should be taken seriously!he obviously has no idea what the hell is going on and just continues to give random opinions of his own as fact.silly old prick

Moz_1983 and dennisblandford you're talking out of your arse! Like greg_stinson i was at the 02 for the gig and it wasn't full of corporate people and z list celeb's...for one i am a proper fan and i was stood next to guys who had flown in from Sweden and from New York for the show, but no obviously you're right even though you weren't even there and those people who had taken a 7 hour flight to watch the show aren't true fans . Look just because you're jealous that you didn't get to see their last gig and other people did doesn't mean you can go slagging them off saying that they're not worthy but you are you stupid tosser!as for the price, it was a bit extortionate but then again it is the best band in the world, i'm sure if you had the chance to go you wouldn't given up a chance to buy tickets at that price.

Just a thought...why dont Jimmy Page give Rolf Harris a call im sure he`d be more than willing to fill in for Robert Plant.

Led Zep were one of the greatest bands to walk the earth between 1969 and 1976. That was the time to see them. They had faded just a little by the time I saw them at Knebworth in 1979. That's all 30 to 40 years ago!!Would I want to go and see Radiohead in 2032 with all the songs keyed down as Thom's voice couldn't cope with singing them as written anymore? No way, so get over Led Zep!Roll on the next Muse tour :o)
